Some stories are written.

This one was survived.

On April 29, 1994, Yohan Badía left Cuba with seven others aboard a raft they built by hand—without an engine, without certainty, and without a way back.

What followed was a journey across open water marked by fear, faith, brotherhood, and an unshakable belief that freedom was worth the risk. The Raft is Yohan's firsthand account of the life he left, the sea he survived, and the home he found in America.

“The kid from Cuba became a rafter. The rafter became a man. The man found his home in America.”
